Betsy stated: "I am joining a club with a rich heritage that we can be proud of, and we're also looking ahead to an exciting start at several levels as well as off the field.

"I am extremely impressed with (co-chairmen) Eben (Smith) and Preston (Johnson)'s vision for the club. After discussions, I was certain that I'd be working with honest and bright people who have the same enthusiasm and motivation to help move this club to the next level. I will be working extremely to the max and put the effort and heart into each day to achieve our goals.

"I am thankful for the chance and trust that I have been shown through Eben (Smith), Preston (Johnson) and others I've spoken to. I am excited to meet all the players in the team. Together we can envision Crawley Town to become a place where people are excited to visit and where players and staff enjoy working everyday. Crawley will be a positive location to bring the community together, and also attract younger generations of fans around the world for the team.

"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Arsenal, all of the staff and players for a wonderful time at the club. The club has been first class in how things have been conducted and allows me to take this chance to progress myself with the opportunity at Crawley Town."

The move to Betsy is a result of that the League Two club parted company with coach John Yems earlier this month, following its conclusion of an investigation into the 62-year-old's conduct due to a number of accusations of discrimination against minorities.

The incident occurred following an ex- Crawley player was accused of telling Sky the club's changing rooms was segregated due to racial reasons and players of ethnic minorities being forced to switch to white teammates.

Sky Sports News reported that seven Crawley players made claims that Yems made use of insensitive language and conduct towards his own players.

Sky News and Sky Sports News both Sky News and Sky Sports News have reached out to Mr. Yems by letter, phone and even at his residence to discuss the allegations. As of now, he has been unable to answer the inquiries, but is denial to news organizations.

Prior to the move to Betsy, Crawley had explored the possibility of bringing in Chelsea Women's manager Emma Hayes as their new manager.

A source told Sky Sports News Hayes was the top option and that the team has made efforts to contact Hayes about the job.

Hayes was named recently FA WSL Manager of the Season following her win the third title in consecutive seasons. She also guided Chelsea towards victory over the Vitality Women's FA Cup.
