Rangers signed Bayern Munich midfielder Malik Tillman as a loan player with the option to purchase.

Rangers announced Friday that a deal was reached for the 20-year old, making him Rangers' fifth summer signing.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Manager of the company, said that "He is an exciting young talent which will further enhance our attacking options. Both myself and my coaching staff look forward to working together."

Van Bronckhorst made Tillman a major target as Rangers prepare to face the new Scottish Premiership season. The Champions League qualifiers will begin in early August.

Bayern Munich is keen to include a buyback option in any deal.

Tillman was born in Germany, but he chose to play for the USA. He made his international debut last month.

Rangers welcomed John Souttar, Antonio Colak, Rabbi Matondo and Tom Lawrence to the club this year.

Ajax and Brighton have already begun talks to sign Rangers' highly-rated Calvin Bassey.

The versatile defender is also being watched by the Bundesliga and Serie A, with at least seven sides following the 22-year old.

Sky Sports News reported that Bassey was also a target of former Gers boss Steven Gerrard. He is now at Aston Villa.

According to Ajax, Alfred Schreuder, the head coach of Ajax, has spoken with Bassey by phone. The Dutch club is preparing a formal bid to replace Lisandro Martnez who is expected to join Manchester United.

Rangers are not interested in Nigerian internationals and won't entertain any bids until they exceed PS20m. One source suggests that any deal might need to surpass the PS25m record for Kieran Tierney joining Arsenal from Celtic.

Bassey, who moved from Leicester City two years ago for only PS230,000, will be leaving Rangers this summer. Rangers will break their club-record transfer fees for the second consecutive season.

It would be Nathan Patterson, an academy graduate who moved to Everton for PS16m in January. This move was part of Rangers' strategy to move toward full financial sustainability through their player-trading model.

Bassey is believed to be settled at Rangers but he would still be open to talks with Ajax or Brighton.

He still has two years left on his contract and made 50 appearances in all competitions. After the club's success to the final, he was named in the Europa League team.

He was also a major player in Rangers winning the Scottish Cup in May. This is on top of the Scottish Premiership title that he won during the previous campaign.

Rangers are interested in Borna Barisic (left-back), as they look to strengthen their defensive options and attack line-ups as they attempt to qualify for Champions League and win the Scottish Premiership title.
